About this user
Pianist David Greenfield Bowie has been an Austin musician since 1977, playing a broad range of instrumental standards: from ragtime to classical, jazz to country, contemporary pop hits to golden oldies, as well as audience requests. Here you are invited to enjoy listening to this accomplished pianist performing several original pieces by prolific composer Greenfield Bowie (the composer's name is shortened to avoid confusion with the rock star David Bowie).
Born in Minnesota, David received classical piano training from a young age, accompanied singers and choral groups in his youth, and played church organ while in college. After two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Brazil, David came to Austin for graduate studies at the University of Texas. For the past three decades, he has played piano for many of Central Texas' restaurants, hotels, and private clubs, while also building a portfolio of more than 700 original piano melodies. Two CD recordings by composer Greenfield Bowie have been released to date: Earthtones, and Hill Country Ragtime, both available at Austin's Waterloo Records, or from his web site, www.greenfieldbowie.com.
David's current activities are playing dinner music at Romeo's Restaurant in Austin, and composing new music for Portrait in Sepia Tone, a soon-to-be-released motion picture recently submitted to Sundance and other film festivals. For more information, visit http://www.portraitinsepiatone.com
