oh ive never tried it without, thats one thing i dont like about tactical is that you have to constantly design and re-fit ships you built recently to keep them up to date. ill have to try that then :)

I've heard the game is much harder without the tactical combat on though.I think its less complicated now that I watched someone play and pretty much teach you along the way. Though I only know what to do with the more higher technology lol. I also take a long time to actually fight/build combat ...

I think my main problem was I didn't have the patience to really sit and learn the game, or getting through the initial turns where its mainly expanding etc. But now that I've taken the time I've actually enjoyed it. I loved rome and medieval total war ...
