Assassins Creed 3 hits shelves this October!

Hey Gamers, Joshua Ovenshire here for Clevver Games. Ubisoft announced today a release date for the full fledged sequel to the Assassin's Creed franchise. We will be seeing the epic conclusion to the story arc first established in the first Assassin's Creed on October 30th of this year. For those of you trying to catch up, at the end of Assassin's Creed Revelations, it's up to Desmond to run off to stop the end of the world from happening. Epic, right?

And for those of you who see this as just another franchise trying to milk us for all we got by releasing a game EVERY year (cough modern warfare) I'm here to ease your mind. Think about it. If in the game the world is going to end in December of 2012, real original by the way, you can't center a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life. So an October 2012 release date just works.

It also helps to know, that they've been working on this game for a while. Assassin's Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general, So how in Brotherhood and Revelations, they were just add ons to the story. They didn't really raise the bar gaming wise, well outside of adding multiplayer. AC 3 is bringing this franchise to the next level. Speaking of Mulitplayer, hopefully 3 fixes all the matchmaking issues we had in the last game. It's also going to be interesting to see where the look and feel of the game goes now that they will be bringing on a new creative lead for the franchise.

Yes, this will conclude the current story arc in place. We will get that closure finally, but I don't think Ubisoft is done yet. I wonder where they'll take the franchise after this. Perhaps we'll get teased with a new storyline at the end of 3. But what do you guys think? Are you ready for the final instalment in Desmond's story line?
