As far back as 1982 Eric Devries fronted the Amsterdam based trio Dance Stance supporting The Jam. In 1991 Devries founded The Big Easy, earning critical acclaim from both public and press which resulted in many live performances on national radio stations. In '92 The Big Easy came in second in the biggest talent hunt competition known as the "Grote Prijs van Nederland". The band was renowned for their combination of acoustic and electric guitar as well as for the songs and lyrics of Devries. Despite the touring and media attention they never got a record-deal and finally in '96 they quit.

Later on Devries teamed up with BJ Baartmans and the two of them worked as an acoustic singer-songwriter duo for many years.

In April 2004 Devries' debut cd 'Little of a Romeo' was released. Airplay by both national and local radiostations was what followed. As well as a tour of America's sooner state Oklahoma (see kicking up a red dirt storm) and a TV appearance on Devries' hometown TV station AT5.
Teaming up with contemporary collegues resulted in the birth of Songwriters United. This singing-songwriting collective released a live concert DVD in june 2005. A clip with Devries' ''Ballad of Johnny and Ginny" was released in summer. In september 2007 Songwriters United will release their first cd "Another round with... Songwriters United".

December 2007 saw the release of Eric Devries' second solo cd. Titled "Sweet Oblivion" is recorded with his new band 'The Easy' but also contains three songs recorded in Tulsa, U.S.A. while Devries was on tour there in the spring of 2005. With his debut solo cd "Little of a Romeo" Eric Devries launched himself to the top of the dutch Americana/folk scene. With "Sweet Oblivion" Devries once more proves his songwriting skills.
He continues to play solo as well as with his band and is currently working on a third album.
Eric Devries also hosts a singer songwriter evening in Nijmegen, The Netherlands ( www.rambleontuesday.nl )
