About this user
What can be said about Des Peres that hasn't already. Having been described as one of the most exciting and original groups to emerge from Melbourne in years they have been exporting their music and live show around this country and overseas since their emergence in 2002.
With a sound that mixes driving, funky beats and a myriad of diverse samples
" Old Des flicks switches and releases a live extravaganza of sound. A sound bite from Run DMC plays as quickly as it disappears. Sounds are built up and layered with crunchy fat samples and beats. It all hit the spot in a club full of dancing punters" Inthemix review August 2003 Old Des drives the bus.
Combine this with his three front people (Luva DJ, Talx and Mr. Ection) who mix vocals with MCing and guitarist Little Tom"they had girls on roller skates, a singing DJ who also blends cocktails, live visuals projecting themselves and the crowd, electronic boards with scrolling text and they sent the audience nuts" and guitarist Little Tom and it is easy to see why this is one of the most talked about live shows going around.
Des Peres has just come off a very busy couple of years which saw them headlining festivals all over Australia as well as internationally playing to huge crowds and receive rave reviews
On the recording front they have released tracks for the Clan Analogue label and Dark Matter label. They have also remixed many Australian Artists.
Finally they have completed their first full length album entitled, Preserved, which was released in April 2004 on the Flict label and through Shock Records to five star reviews.
An air kissingly gorgeous twist of a disk, instantly likeable. An absolutely delightful and essential listen -- Rave magazine QLD.
Their second album "Ace Doubt" was released in 2006 again to rave reviews about its highly original take on the hip hop genre.
