Hello! My name is Derik and I play music. It all started when I took piano lessons as a child back in Alma Michigan. I knew since the first day that music was my life. A fews later and a long distance traveled, I ended up in Lakeland Florida where I still live today. After figuring out a few chords on guitar and messing around with covers of my favorite songs I decided to write my own music. I started recording these songs on a small mixing board in my bedroom and released my first ep entitled "When you come back down". Included on the ep is the song "The Brightest Light" which won Earthday Networks national songwriting competition "A Song For The Earth". The Brightest Light took me to the National Mall where I played the Earthday Climate Rally of 2010. Now here in 2011 I share my love of songwriter here with you. Currently I am in the process of recording a new ep to be released in late 2011.
