Artists create visuals. Very few humans I'm aware of could paint a picture with words as well as Hartford. What's scary is that he was probably a better player than he was a lyricist. The word genius gets tossed around haphazardly. I think it probably applies aptly with Hartford.

The dull reality expressed in these lyrics has always fascinated me. Probably my favorite Hartford tune. It's rare to have a song paint such a vivid picture. The guy could tell a story with chords and words as well as anyone.

This is maybe the greatest musician of our time. Truly incredible.

For years I have taken this album for granted. Passed it off as "studio music," - post Bonham. But damn, this is great music.

Granted, there's some genius in some backwater town or tribal society nobody's ever heard of somewhere in the world who truly holds the title of greatest drummer of all-time. But, as far as what is recorded and known, John Bonham stands above all others - even Neal Peart and Keith Moon.
