Actually this song entered the Cashbox Charts December 15, 1956.
Harry Belefonte's similar Banana Boat Song entered the charts on January 12, 1957.
However, this song is almost never playlisted on Vancouver AM stations that play oldies. When Bobby Curtola is played on the radio one of these songs are aired: Fortune Teller, Johnny Take Your Time, Three Rows Over, Indian Giver and once in awhile Hitchhiker.
