And as we sail towards our destiny we are greeted only by open seas
Empty skies above.
And the sight of land
Was a sleight of hand
A collusion of the sun and wind
The illusion that one day our destiny will come.

And as we sail towards our destiny we do so at night
The stars are our guides
The heavens are full
The darkness before us is pregnant with possibility.

But come day time the sun banishes our guides
And reveals the emptiness stretched out before us which the darkness shrouded in hope.
In the light of day the wind blows us off our course
Our destiny is again lost
We float on
We wait for the sundown.
We wait for the end of the day
We wait for the end of days
Let it be night
forever night
forever a sky of distant suns
Infinite suns
Not just this one
This star so bright it hides the crowded skies,
The true value of our destination,
The true value of our destiny to which we sail on.

And as we sail towards our destiny we find only words with no meaning
Sounds from a dictionary
Sights from a memory
Smells from a book about yesterday.
As the sun rises over another night put to sleep
So too our dreams go to sleep
As the dream of reality clouds them all
Crowds them all off the stage of our mind.

But we sail on
Day and night
Blinded by the light
Guided by the night
Wandering through the light
Finding in the night the path we seek
Our destiny.
