Artist: Manuel Tur Title: Foolinʼ EP Release Date: 26th October (Vinyl) 24th November (Digital) Format: 12" Vinyl / Digital Cat No: DOG20 / DOGD20
Manuel Tur returns to Delusions following his recent classic Most Of This Moment on Freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyʼve got his game sussed. Itʼs quite safe to say the last year or so Manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. Recent remixes for Permanent Vacation, Diynamic and Dixonʼs Philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. Here on Delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the Foolinʼ EP.
The title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. A simple vocal refrain is spun in like a DJ drops an accapella and once heard thisʼll be stuck in your head for days. A firm fireside favourite with all of us here at DOG. Thereʼs also an instrumental version of Foolinʼ for those with vocalitis.
Flipping over we have The Traveller which sees Manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some Axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. A subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.

Artist: Session Victim Title: Million Dollar Feeling EP Release Date: 20th September (vinyl) 4th October (digital) Format: 12" Vinyl / Digital Cat No: DOG12 Session Victim are back with yet more 21st century explorations into the thing we call house. Itʼs been a busy 12 months for the German duo since theyʼre previous Delusions outing, maintaining momentum by releasing some of the most inventive, warm, deep and soulful music on a host of vinyl orientated labels such as Real Soon, Hairy Claw and Retreat. For those who have become SV fans, you can be happy that what you have here is the continuation of the two producersʼ development, taking things deeper still and with even more of an organic live feel. On Million Dollar Feeling, the drums are four on the floor but thatʼs not to say any of the drum programming is basic. This track is loaded with layers of percussion, nicely timed buzzing snares and dubbed out claps that all come together to create a groove that you never tire of. On top of this you have deep, detroit pads and a vocal sample that we still cant believe weʼve never heard used before. Yeah, its that good! Dutchman Gerd is a man who has been impressing us a lot recently having turned out great tracks and remixes on Royal Oak, Philpot and Rejected as well as his own 4Lux label which he has been running for around 8 years now. For his remix of Million Dollar Feeling he veers more towards his alter ego Amplified Orchestra sound going on a deep, disco-laced excursion with a heavy kick and echoing bass. Here he creates an intense, peaktime vibe by pushing the chords up in the mix and adding a pushed piano stab that really drives the track along. Finally, flip over for something very special indeed. Time To Let You Down drops the BPMʼs for an 11 minute string-laden soundtrack to spin you right back into mid to late 90ʼs downtempo and chillout electronica. This reminds us of the best music from the likes of Visit Venus, 9Lazy9 or Smokers Delight but all put together with the Session Victim attention to detail and ear for deep, enveloping layers of musical elements. 9 minutes in weʼre treated to a breakdown where the strings open up into the full sample creating the climax of the track. A bold, confident arrangement which pays off as you find yourself putting the needle back to the top one more time.

Artist: Tornado Wallace Title: Always Twirling EP Release Date: 18th October (vinyl) 1st November (Digital) Format: 12" Vinyl / Digital Cat No: DOG13
Tornado Wallace has had a great 12 months following his debut release Paddlin' on Delusions put him firmly on the map of heavyweight young producers to watch. Subsequent remixes for Home Taping Is Killing Music, Future Classic and Detroit label Kolour have pushed him further to the forefront of deep and dubby slomo house scene.
Always Twirling spins into action with driving 16th note hats, compressed pads and soaring strings. 808 snare fills rattle throughout and a warm, dubby bassline provides the speaker-troubling low end.
Twirl And The Beanstalk goes for a more heads down, bare beats and bass approach resulting in an intense, floor friendly track that grooves extra hard.
Finally, we have Whispering Twirl, a sumptuous slice of midtempo deepness with a hint of boogie and a dash of soul.
On the digital version of this release we have an excellent Norm De Plume remix of Always Twirling where Norm adds a nice live feel with the drums and extra percussion whilst keeping things nicely stripped back and rolling. Buy Vinyl Here: http://www.juno.c...
