i live for the reel. noir to indie. every damn mm of it. be it from 127 hours, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, little miss sunshine, inception, life is beautiful, the departed, the godfather series, 500 hundred days of summer, schindler's list, the pursuit of happyness, i am sam, seven pounds, whiplash, american beauty, the bucket list, 21 grams, and even tagalog (though i cringe to admit it) like ang pagdadalaga ni maximo oliveros, and jologs. i could go back to the good ole days of the ten commandments and gone with the wind to girly the back-up plan, to nut-kicking the hangover, and even graphically animated films like watchmen, 300 and sin city. if you've watched black swan, and wasn't disturbed by it.... we're not sharing the same sentiments. i still prefer movies without much of the cgi's and big actors coupled with a good intelligible, witty, caught-you-by-surprise script. and of course good direction. a nice one that makes you think of it way after you watched it.
