09 The Fuego Series 2011
The Fuego Series was recorded in Santiago De Compostela, Spain. I went there to record a song with an artist called Iago Pico Freire (we did a song called Heroes, I also co-produced) and afterwards we recorded this set of videos in his studio, with the help of his friends from Pixel Films. This is by far the best production quality I have ever had on videos, one of the angles was even a RED One camera :) This is also the first series where I wasn't completely alone in the room, and the first series where I took a much more laid-back, tasteful, and complimentary approach to the tracks, as opposed to wild overplaying.
08 The Nexus Series 2010
This was the last series I recorded in the church in Bloemfontein where this whole thing started and where I recorded the first covers in 2007. This is also the only series featuring the LDS Cobus Potgieter signature series kit that Udrum built for me and sponsored me with, which was a huge milestone in my career and something I am still very thankful for.
07 The White Series 2009
I found this really cool big piece of white cloth, and thought it would make a nice contrast with the black floor in the previous recordings. After I recorded this series I realised that it had a very distinct (and completely unplanned) white theme going on, so that's where the name came from.
06 The Michael Jackon Tribute Series 2009
This was actually recorded right AFTER The White Series (even though it was released before), as you can see by the new TRX cymbals being used in this video. I decided to rush the edit on this one and release it first, because I really wanted to get the tribute out as soon as possible after Michael's death.
05 The Hybrid Series 2008
With this series I really wanted to do something creative, and I decided to add some parts of my electronic practice kit into the mix, thus creating this acoustic and electronic "hybrid" kit. I triggerred the cymbals I couldn't afford to buy at that stage: a splash, china, and the (super cheese but super awesome) bell.
04 The Blister Series 2008
The name comes from the fact that I had 11 blisters after recording these videos, mostly because I couldn't rehearse and practice properly beforehand. This proved to be a break-out set of videos for me, especially after Face Down was received so incredibly well.
03 The Dual-Cam Series 2007
I actually recorded about a few more songs for this series, but because I was so eager to get new videos out, the performances were really forced and not natural and spontaneous and fun at all, so I had to remove a few videos and only post two (three, originally. but Toxicity was made private after I realises how horribly horrible I played it, haha). After this series I decided to take all the pressure off of myself and only record and release videos I absolutely enjoy, and never to rush it again like I did this one.
The reason for the clothing/lighting change, is because I decided to do some tracks again the very next day, right before I tore down the kit and packed everything away.
02 The Tri-Cam Series 2007
My second set of videos. I recorded these quite close after The Overhead Series (about one month later), RIGHT after I bought my new drum kit at that stage. The drum kit arrived at my house in boxes, and I literally took it straight to my church on the same day, miked the kit, set up the cameras.. and recorded these videos.
