I do find that not having the option of being constantly connected (in Afghanistan) has changed my thought process a bit. I am able to focus on what is going on in front of me, and am not a slave to the quivering plastic in my front pocket.

As a typical materialistic consumer American, I care about human plight, but not enough to not get a plastic chunk of pure awesome if I want it.
