About this user
BEGINNING:
Charity is the youngest of three daughters born into a native american political family. She attended a private elementary school, where she successively achieved honor roll status. After a family move, she attended a public jr. high school, where she successively lost her honor roll status.
After a scholastic advisor suggested a private school in Mass., she began her high school years at Cushing Academy. It was there where she began exploring her artistic tendencies in a more disciplined setting. Upon graduating from Cushing Academy, the school endorsed her artistic ventures by presenting her the "Fine Arts Department Award". She applied to RISD and gained entrance.
It was at RISD where she began making art installations and experiences. Freshman year, she was asked to exhibit her art piece entitled "family" in a group show at the Woods Gerry Gallery.
INSPIRATION:
Two years later, she was unable to complete her college degree at RISD due to a family event which was political in nature. This particular event moved her, literally and figuratively. Her father was sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison. She decidedly moved to the nearest city to visit him every weekend. After a year of visitations, he insisted she move onto the next phase of her life.
She did. At first, to work at Foxwoods Casino as a high stakes blackjack dealer, then as a Casino Host. After four years of the Foxwoods social study, she decided to move to New York City and began her illustrious career in the corporate world. Starting out at Bear Stearns. Progressing to a high fashion licensing conglomerate: Valentino, Calvin Klein, Armani, Antonio Fusco, and Emanuel Ungaro. Fast forward to 2001, her father's sentence was commuted by an exiting President Clinton. Later that year, he was presented the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II as a Navajo Code Talker. It was then, Charity decided to return to her artistic roots. She planned one last harrah in the corporate world as a Benefits Manager at Prada USA corp. In 2003, she submitted her resignation and applied to NYU's intensive video production program. Her journey into moving pictures commenced.
Soon after she began her work in this industry, she was called upon by others to express her opinion. She was featured in the following: Le Monde 2 (interview), Radio France (interview), World Peace Conference-Hiroshima, JAPAN (spoke), video project by Yann Arthus-Bertrand entitled "6 Billion Others", which exhibited at the Grand Palais (featured). She was also requested to serve as a panelist on the New York State Council on the Arts (Individual Artists) for the fiscal year 2010.
FILM/VIDEO/ART:
Under a collaboration, known as Good Boy and Girl, the prize "Director's Special Recognition" was awarded for the short film "Introduction" at the San Francisco Short Film Festival in 2006. "Introduction" was also an official selection, in two other film festivals.
Currently, Charity is working on a project called "Charity Datum". Charity's credits include Director, Editor, Script Supervisor and Cameraperson.
