The delay stuff at the end is pretty much his live solo from Brighton Rock in the News of the World/Jazz era. You can hear it on "Live Killers.'"

Kids, you have GOT to get one of these. When I first got mine and started playing, I almost had tears streaming down my face. I cannot believe how clear the guitar sounds, even at the max anger. My SG with P-90s sounded INCREDIBLE with just a little bit from this. I play a lot of double stops...

@korgri Yes, kogri. It was an abomination. I am well aware of the fact that Daltrey and Entwistle were not as wealthy as Pete and that they needed to tour to make money, but this tour, with the ridiculous brass section and Pete mainly on acoustic, was not The Who. It was more like "The Who on ...

Schlitz Rocks America!! I had forgotten that they sponsored this tour.
I find it hard to watch shows from the Kenney Jones era. I'm sure he's a good guy and a fine drummer, but he was the wrong drummer for the band. You don't want a guy just imitating Moon, but Jones is such a traditional dru...

@TomLael Might simply be that the SGs had really thin, unstable necks and Townshend would bend his constantly for a vibrato effect. I'm actually stunned that Pete played .012s on his SG (with his B string the same gauge as the G string!). My SG develops a small buckle at the neck joint with any...

@bilgerat64 Supposedly, it simply doesn't exist. I don't know how that could be, but that's what Townshend says. There is no film of it.
Interestingly, Townshend has expressed regret over the incident and said he was being a jerk and that he agreed with what Hoffman was saying.

This is fantastic. And seeing it answered a question I had always had about Pete's live sound. I know he was using the Univox Super Fuzz for his "huge" sound and for soloing. What I always wondered was how he was switching between a clean, almost acoustic sound and his fully-overdriven sound. ...

Oops. Again, no disrespect intended, but you have the part at the 14th fret a little off. You are pulling off 17-15-14 on the E string. He actually pulls off 17-15 and the hits the G string on the 14th fret (A). Then he keeps alternating between the descending line on the top with the A on th...
