Great comments on Rania, do not remain unnoticed:
eggwithketchup | July 14, 2008 I thought this channel would be used for solving stereotypes. But why is it that whenever someone utters some -in the point of view of the most chatters here- 'negative' feedback about Islam, he/she gets excluded from the dialogue? Or he/she isn't taken seriously anymore by the most people who come here. |

Try to build that bridge!
Its all psychology you know! People are willing to listen if they know that you respect their Individual Right to belief what they belief. And you should respect it because otherwise you cannot possibly stand for Separation between Church and State and the Individuals Right to Worship of Choice. |

my recent comments on Rania's channel:

0).Whole discussion about American foreign policies (that took 20+ pages) is wholly uninteresting. One very important note on America being scnd WO- hero. What about the Russian army invading Berlin? But you don't hear Americans speak anything good of communists, anytime soon. Nixon did a good job on that one, I guess. Besides: what has that to do with discussing Western 'stereotypes' on Islam????? One wonders. As I said: European thinking on Islam is largely an internal affair: reactions on Muslims within its own borders. That is the case for the Netherlands, anyways.

1).What is actually very interesting was totally ignored and remained unanswered: Page 44: kevofdfw (July 05, 2008): 'Do you believe that Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, and Iran will ever stop executing homosexuals simply for being homosexuals or partaking in homosexual acts? And will homosexuality ever be made legal in countries like Pakistan....were if you are caught you can expect life in prison or most likely death?' My question would be: 'Stereotype?' No! Fact! The only 'answer' we received was from bkolbNJ (July 05, 2008), that is very lousy 'answer': 'kevofdfw, you might want to check some facts before you make wide ranging statements. I'm not a lawyer but I do know that homosexuality is not illegal in the United Arab Emirates'. -- Incipit Professor egghead. The wide ranging statement is a fact. I respect gay people. Islam doesn't (Fact number two). So: 'stereotypes'????

2). I know that H. Ali is fighting for women in the Muslim world. I respect that. She attacks the horrid practice of female circumcisions. All women/ human loving people should respect that. And that's in fact my opinion on Ali. She did not shape my opinion on Islam one bit. Neither does Wilders, who is not likely to attract attention of Academics like myself. Wilders too Islamophobic; Balkenende too Islamophilic. Both positions clearly wrong. I am an Academic in philosophy and religion.

....That's the context of my comment on SportHunter007 (July 05, 2008): 'Kurds, Yazidis, and Druze are Muslims. Also Yazidis and Druze are Arabs'. My answer was: Yezidis are NOT Muslims: you are deadly wrong. Druzes are called heretics by Muslims.
|
||
|
3). I should add: Yazidis are ethnically speaking: Kurds NOT Arabs. Clearly proving this guy is utterly ill-informed. What did I receive?? Insults. But at least I am not unworthy for criticism. If, it makes sense.

4). I love people, and most of the characters here don't. Call that my own 'stereotype'. The are ISLAMOPHILIC, hurten by virtually all criticism. Case in point: SportHunter007 (July 05, 2008): 'Pathetic, Daz is to come back and restate absurd comments again and again.' I didn't insulted the guy. But if he says it like this he surely is a (very hurten) idiot. Saying that Muslims should determine what and what not I can say about Islam is pathetic. One cannot try to belittle our freedoms. While commenting on me, SportHunter007 has proven that he himself holds stereotypes of other people himself. Calling van Gogh an obscure artist and spelling his name completely wrong proves it all. T. van Gogh stands in a long Dutch tradition of freedom of speech, I am Dutch and virtually no one here. Don't describe him as a mere artist, when he was a gifted debater and remarkable criticaster.

Being Dutch myself, I have every right to put him in the list of our OWN Dutch thinkers: Erasmus, Spinoza and Oudemans (whom you probably never heard of, as you people only quote old thinkers here, or stupid American presidents as if they were great philosophers: LOL). Mentioned Dutch freethinkers/ philosophers have all different qualities of their own. So it would be better to style them as: great Dutch people. Having clarified that, I say: van Gogh WAS such a GREAT person himself. He was a great critic. |
