It's working for me.

(If you are getting "Cannot connect to players" error, you should reset your console. If after restart you can't connect, beg your friend to reset his/her console.)

Try to connect like 2 times, if you still can't try this:
-Invite your friend to your pod,
-Tell your friend that he/she have to go to his pod
-Follow him/her
And here you are!

If it's still not working, try this:
1) Set your MTU to 1492
-Go to network settings
-Choose custom
-Make all automatic (or your settings), and stop on MTU
-Change MTU to 1492
-Save and try now

If after that you can't even connect to LBP servers, change again MTU to Automatic.

2) Unlock these ports:

TCP 80, 443, 5223
UDP 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658
If even this wont work, you have no other way to play with friends. Buy new router/modem.
