I am a self-taught artist who has been painting for the past thirty-six (36) years. I was born in the Caribbean island-nation, The Commonwealth of Dominica, (NOT the Dominican Republic). I immigrated to the USA in 1976 and became a citizen of the USA in 1986. In 1980, I read a quote from Leonardo da Vinci that said, "The artist can enhance his power of creative invention by staring at a stain on a wall and therein, he may perceive whatever he wishes to see." This was the final catalyst that led me to pursue a life-long interest in visual pun technique in painting. I had been initially introduced to that method of perception when, during my childhood, my mother was teaching my late brother and me to read. She shocked me when she hinted to my brother that "Italy was kicking Sicily." My predilection for double meaning in a work of art was further stimulated by my juvenile interest in the double entendre lyric of my favorite Calypso singer, The Mighty Sparrow. My discovery of the works of the famous Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí, also stimulated my interest in that genre. Today, I have amassed a collection of over 400 paintings. I must give credit to my wife, Yvonne, who is my videographer and photographer. She patiently endures my art obsession.
