Hi,

My name is David Williams and I live and work in London. About three years ago I was walking through Green Park tube station on my way to work when I saw a busker playing the guitar. He seemed very intense and serious but what little of the music he was playing that I heard I really liked. I was in a hurry to get to work on time so did not have the time to stop and listen.

The second time I saw him was on a Saturday morning so I struck up a conversation with him and bought (much to his surprise) one of the CDs he was selling. His name was Carlos Herrera from Gran Canaria and although the quality of the recordings was sometimes patchy I really enjoyed them. There were pieces by Jacques Stotzem, Chris Proctor, Eric Roche and Laurence Juber amongst others.

I had not picked up a guitar in 20 or so years but thanks to Carlos felt inspired to get out my old Yamaha classical that had not seen the light of day for 20 or so years. I got into the swing of playing again quite quickly. The internet has been an incredibly useful resource both for obtaining tabs for songs and also for watching performances on Youtube,

I initially bought a Taylor 114 and played that for about a year. I then splashed out on a Taylor 814 and am now a proud (but unworthy) owner of a Lowden 035, a truly beautiful instrument.

For the 10 or so pieces I have loaded there are an equal number I have not as I have not got them up to a reasonable standard. I will be revisiting some of them this year and also want to perform some Pierre Bensusan pieces. This will be a big leap forward for me as they are very tricky.
