A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, David began his acting career in Washington DC at the Source Theatre with a question: Whats a headshot and resume? At the Source he immersed himself in every aspect from stage-managing to assisting with light and sound design. He also got his first chance to act in a few small productions at the theater before landing a role as a heroin addict on the television show Homicide: Life on the Street. While in DC, he also worked for Kaiser Permanentes Educational Theater Program where he performed in, Secrets, a show that dealt with the trials of being a teenager who is HIV positive.

David made the move to Los Angeles in 1999. Since then hes worked as an actor in everything from music videos to television shows such as The Shield, ER and Arrest and Trail. Hes also starred in several independent films and in numerous plays. Three of these plays where nominated for best ensemble. Niggas with Attitudes and Big Guns was nominated for best ensemble in the 2000 Artistic Director Achievement (A.D.A.) Awards. For Black Boys Who Considered Homicide When the Streets Were Too Much was nominated for best ensemble in the 2001 NAACP Awards. David is also honored to have starred in the lead role in, How Kintu Became a Man which was nominated for best ensemble in the 2002 Ovation Awards. And he just recently finished a run of the Off Broadway production WEBEIME, a play produced by the famous Negro Ensemble Company.

Acting proved to be only the beginning of Davids creative pursuits. Being surrounded by different mediums of creativity in the industry, David was seduced by the arts of writing and directing. Since then hes written, directed, produced, or worked in a combination of these roles for many short films and internet commercials. Much of Davids work is currently being featured on the famed Youtube website. He was honored to be a semi-finalist for his screen-play in The Urban Insiders Short Screenplay Competition in 2003 for Prime of Life. Also during that year, his first play APPLAUSE for Miss E. was selected for the National Black Theatre Festivals Readers Series. In 2004, David directed the theater production of APPLAUSE for Miss E. at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywoods famous theater district. It received two nominations from the 2004 A.D.A. Awards: Best Ensemble Cast-Comedy and Author of an Original Play. It also received three nods from the NAACP Theatre Awards Committee, who recognized the production for its light design, one of Davids side passions. Currently, APPLAUSE for Miss E., is released on DVD starring Vanessa Bell Calloway, Gina Torres and Roger Guenevere Smith.

David Wendell Boykins graduated from the Los Angeles Film School where he studied directing, cinematography and producing. His thesis project, Prime of Life has been featured at the Roxbury Film Festival in Boston MA, the 1st Annual Fresh Cut Review and the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center 15th Annual Film Festival. Currently, David is submitting his latest short film, Concrete River, to various film festivals around the country.
