I am an ex Marine and also served as a Navy Reservist in the 1980s. I completed a 4 year trade school in my early 30s and went on to work as a journeyman electrician for 10 more years. In 2005 I spent 3 weeks in the hospital after collapsing from Menengitis which almost took my life. I survived but ended up on disability after working 30 years by the time I was 45. I write about disability and chronic conditions and barriers which prevent many with illness from moving forward and living productively. I have a son 9 years old a wife and am currently residing in North Carolina
