Dave Aron is the son of 1950s be-bop trumpet player Al Aron and 20 year brand director Dorothy Marshall.Arons musical journey began in Asbury Park, New Jersey where he played clarinet in the high schools marching and jazz bands. In his senior year, he was voted most musically talented
In 1982, after attending Rutgers University for a year, he enrolled in the University of Memphis recording program where he split his time between the recording studios and the football field as a walk on tight end.
As his musical journey continued, Aron took an internship at WHBQ radio and Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN.
In 1987, he landed his first professional job at the world famous Sun Studios where he worked as studio manager and chief engineer. He quickly got a taste of working with a major artist when U2 recorded some songs for the Rattle and Hum album.
In 1990, Aron moved to Los Angeles and found his first job at Music Grinder Recording. After a short stay, he found his first major career-break when he landed a staff engineer position at Larrabee Sound.
After working with multiple artists at Larrabee, he earned early credits working with Grammy Award-Winning artist, Prince, on My Name is Prince, Sexy M.F, and an acoustic version of 7 which Dave mixed and was released as a single. This gained him a significant amount of clout and secured a flourishing career in the music industry.
In 1993, Dave Aron began a long affiliation with Death Row Records. He served as engineer and mixer for Tupacs landmark album All Eyez on Me, Death Rows Greatest Hits and worked on all of Snoop Doggs albums from Doggystyle to Paid the Cost to be the Boss. In addition, he also exclusively mixed all of Snoop Doggs live performances.
In 1996, when reggae-tinged rock band Sublime wanted a hip-hop producer at the desk for their major label self-titled debut Sublime they hired Aron. His influence can be heard on their single What I Got which reached #1 on Billboards Modern Rock chart and helped them sell over 5 million copies of their album. Dave also collaborated a Snoop Dogg and Sublime remix for Doin Time released in 2005.
He is working on a series of instructional mixing DVDs entitled Platinum Hip Hop Mixing and educational seminars to help educate the generations of tomorrow about music, mixing, engineering & the music industry.
Dave Aron, a graduate of the University of Memphis recording program, has been teaching seminars since
2002 at Middle Tennessee State University. He has
been running an internship program for the past 6 years for students willing to complete their internship in Los Angeles.
Due to the real life experience Dave offers, students
feel that they receive an experience unlike any others
they have had in a classroom studio setting. They
usually feel as though they have just participated in
a professional recording session.
In addition, students are able to ask questions at any point during the seminar to get absolute clarity of the process. He has received 100% positive feedback from the students who have attended past educational seminars.
