This is my favorite tripel, and I've had alot of really good ones. Chimay White, Karmeliet, Westmalle Tripel...all very good tripels, but none of them measure up to St. Bernardus...in my opinion. Their Abt 12 is one of my favorite beers also.

Drinking one right now...my first. Hops, hops, hops...bitter, bitter, bitter. Not a whole lot of complexity to this one, but hopheads will appreciate it. Not as good of a DIPA as Stone's Ruination when it comes to West Coast representations, and definately nowhere near the league of the Hopsla...

Good choice...give Rochefort 10 and Chimay Grande Reserve (blue label) a try if you like ABT 12...if you haven't already. They're all in the same league.

I also think Abt 12 edges out Westy 12. I'm just shocked to hear you use the words "disappointed/above average/not close" when describing this beer. This is a world class beer, in my opinion. I would be hard pressed to find 10 better beers in the world.
