lol, well basically "quan" can be translated into "fist" or "boxing" ....... you will see that many styles end with "quan" ... nanquan, chang quan, ditan quan, taiji quan, etc....... :D ..

I suggest you get this book "Essentials of Chinese Wushu" it was written by Wu bin, the most famous Chinese martial arts coach (teacher of jet li). it is a great book about the history and styles of Wushu.

From what I can conclude. Our Kung fu is of 5 animals and five families. The families,Choy,Li,Fut,Hung,Mok are incorporated into the animals.Southern Shaolin is Hung Gar,if I am correct. I do teach,but as of an assistant instructor. Our hand forms(in order) are: Salute,Small Cross,Butterfly(grey sash),Combination,Blackbird,Go­ddess Palm(Green Sash),Dragon,leopard(Red),Tige­r,Snake(Blue),Crane,Ng Gar Kuen(Black.For us,you need several weapons + Staff to become a SIfu. What forms does your school teach,do you know. Plus the forms I mentioned are translated from chinese.
