@ Hippienationtees: Amen. If he'd have been granted the chance to live into his 30's and beyond I'm certain Hendrix would've polished-up the occasional but noticeable technical gaffes he was guilty of, and also well aware of--if the interviews he gave are any indication. He was working on it.

There's a really simple but invariably veracious adage regarding all the tunes ever written: songs with great melodies; i.e. one's you can easily hum or sing--have LONG lives. This comp is a perfect example, I think.

Anyone out there know who played the guitar solo and outro? It fit the song really well, I think, and the players tone is really slick as well. Definitely a pro.

One of the only, and definitely the most "mainstream" tune from it's era and genre to feature a first-rate chromatic scale, one that worked PERFECTLY with the transcription, and this from a guy with supposedly no real music theory training. It had to have been innate.

@sampoirier: The guitar on the recording is an acoustic flattop. The guitar he's holding in the photo is his tried-and-true '68 ES335.

@R1FFRAPH: If I don't correct A mistake I made in my reply to your query regarding Larry's use of the Gibson ES 335, my conscience will not leave me alone. It's actually a 1968 Sunburst with, as I mentioned, the factory stop tailpiece. And it's STILL just gorgeous!
