@jevonj77 as long as you know the chord tones you can play over any song. If a song stays in one key then the 1 3 5 and 9 are good consonant tones. (if is a major key or a dominant 7th the 7 is consonant or can be used to resolve a phrase. In minor keys the 7 becomes a tendency tone.)
