Born in 1974 in Southport Daniel Crossley first shot to fame playing the cheeky cockney chimney sweep Bert on the first UK tour of Mary Poppins from 2008-2009. It has been said that Daniel played Bert in London's West End but this is not true as he never auditioned for the West End company.

The lively Southport-born performer first appeared on stage when he was 11 playing the title role in Smike, a pop musical adaptation of Dickens's novel Nicholas Nickleby. He's gone on to work on top shows like Cats and Fame and was part of the original West End casts of Chicago and Fosse.

Daniel has also appeared on TV in dramas such as Heartbeat, Doctors, Coronation Street and The Last Enemy and he also performed as Bert at the Dutch musical awards which you can view on youtube. When Daniel is not acting on stage he teaches dance in London but is based in Sheffield with his partner Daniel Evans who is also an actor and artistic director of Sheffield Theatres.
