The beautiful, indisputably talented and confident, Michelle Downer, was born and raised in Spanish Town, Jamaica. After stepping into the music industry and taking it by storm, she became known to the world as D'Angel. As a successful business woman, recording artiste and mother, D'Angel is the epitome of a true Caribbean woman, possessing a spirit and drive to keep striving for excellence in whatever her endeavors. D'Angel is a proud role model for young women, other aspiring female singers as well as business women.
Before D'Angel took her rightful place in the music fraternity, she built a name for herself in the fashion industry as a model and graced the runways of various brands, such as Roca Wear. Her experiences would only serve to prepare her for a bigger stage and to shine in brighter spotlights. D'Angel was cutting her path to achieve her destiny.
Despite a progressive modeling career and being the proprietor of a lucrative fashion boutique, D'Angel's ultimate love and dream was for that of music and singing. Her studio sessions and hard work led to her break-out, smash hit "Downtown Girl Living Uptown" in 2005. In 2006 D'Angel collaborated with Grammy Award winning Jamaican DJ Beenie Man and the hit "One Man" was created. Since then she has teamed up with a host of other internationally noted artists such as Vybz Kartel, Sean Kingston and DJ Unk.
D'Angel truly attests that her "message is in the music" and "although the complete package is there the voice is what's important and the main focus". Her music can be defined as a dancehall, reggae and pop fusion, though her musical talent is not limited to merely those genres. She is excited to diversify her work and remains steadfast in exploring and maximizing all possible avenues.
The captivating lady of the dancehall consistently displays resilience and strength and brings her energy and vivacity to all her performances both locally and internationally. Spicy lyrics, charismatic stage presence with fresh sounds would best describe her style. Regardless of the type of music, whether is it singjay, dj or a beautiful ballad, her songs address the issue of empowering women.
The multi-talented woman maintains a strong presence in the music industry and she proves time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with.
