About dancertoes

Dance videos from various events of my dancing life.

I originally started this channel with recordings of my Irish dancing so I could get feedback for my competition steps. There are also some videos from dance classes, shows, and competitions.

Now that I am not competing, I have simply posted dance videos in many styles, for enjoyment, from my school performances and such.

I may also post other videos that are not necessarily related to dance.. we'll see. This is my personal channel, And I never really planned to run on a theme, but I guess it sort of did over the years. :P

I love dance and really started getting in to it a lot later than most, but now I can't imagine my life without it!

At age 3, my mom put me in Hawaiian dancing lessons (which she was also learning) but I don't remember much of it at all. I did a bit of gymnastics, swimming, soccer, and recreational dance on and off until about age 12. I was the child who tried everything out and didn't really greatly hone one skill except for swimming.

At age 13, I discovered Irish dance at the community centre I was taking my swimming lessons at. I fell in love. It was something I picked up well, and thoroughly enjoyed...because I never considered myself an athletic person. Once I started competing there was no looking back. I stayed with it for about 7 years, having to quit in my second year of university so I could focus more on school. I've tried other styles of dance too, as my high school had a dance program that I was involved with for the full 4 years. It was there that I learned ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, musical theatre, and a bit of hip hop.

During my time at university, I joined the dance club where I was able to learn and perform dances in many styles, including the ones that I already had experience with, and some cultural styles that were new to me and equally loved. Highland, Indian, Afro Jazz. I also choreographed the Irish number for 3 years.

Anybody who knows me well knows that I am always open to learning something new. I will try most things at least once, because I find new things fascinating. I also love people, I can't sit still for too long, and I will always enjoy a good laugh.
