About Me:
Christianity sounds stupid to a lot of people in today's world, and a lot of what PASSES for Christianity IS stupid. I do not reject science (I do reserve the right to critical thinking). Raising the wages of working women -- so they can afford to raise families -- is a MUCH better approach to abortion than putting women in jail -- that's just dumb. And God puts the desire to get married into everyone's heart -- even if you're gay. Jesus isn't coming back to destroy the world and the Christians aren't going to fly away in some "Rapture." Instead, Jesus is coming back to fix things and make them right. All beautiful things are from God and are previews of His glory. I don't think God is a "He" -- but God's a person, with a heart and feelings, not a force, so I use a personal pronoun, and since there's only two -- "He" and "She" -- and Jesus was a male -- I use "He."
I don't attend any church because frankly the churches make me angry, but nonetheless I'm totally dependent on Jesus Christ. I'm single, straight, politically moderate, and open to God's will for my life. I'm no longer interested in America's corporate, money-hungry churches. My church is the bar and the coffeehouse. My parish is the sidewalk and the street. My office is in the park. I reject churches that exist only to give pastors easy work and cushy pensions. Christians should be the loving people who endlessly sacrifice themselves for others and share the good news about a God who loves us more than we can possibly imagine -- not focused on T-shirts, PowerPoint, real estate, market share, target demographics, financial advice, family values, and "worship teams." I love art, music, literature, and film.
I'm a huge fan and supporter of the local music scene, especially Halibut, Sun Society, and the Weller Band. I work producing concerts and working in other ways to promote local musicians.
