Why do we only see the accumulated non-lethal results of billions of years of mutations?

Life is the ultimate opportunistic function. There is no GOAL (sonar, eyes, etc). A lethal mutation is disposed of, all others are kept. This positive ratchet system is all that happens. And yes it just gets better and better. For that NOT to end up looking complex and wonderful would be against all odds.

I am mostly the multicellular colony complex called Damian. My colony is host to a couple kilos of symbiotic and predator bacteria and an unknown number of other parasites. The neural aspect of this colony has learned many things and been of some assistance to the maintenance of the colony. This neural aspect does not view fantasies of post mortum immortality as realistic, or anywhere near as desirable as pre mortum immortality. (There's an oxymoron for you.)

I believe we can overcome the disease of old age much as we overcame smallpox.

i believe in living my life as one who will live indefinitely. i hope to live forever.

i expect 3d printers to rapidly become so capable and so affordable the economy as we know it will not exist anymore.

i believe we must develop better get into orbit systems. (space elevator?)

the BigBang presents a barrier to the acquisition of data before that time. We do NOT infer the non-existence of something prior.

I say the problem is that people are not made out of clay. The bozos that wrote the bible didn't have microscopes. Our bodies were so much clay to them. In building the dogma and system of control, they had to make it palatable. Hence a way of telling anguished parents of deformed or stillborn children some god given reason for the torment of this innocent. Thus was born Original Sin. It was just a way to divert attention from the failure of the priests prayer to intercede and made healthy babies.

I have tested the piss out of evolution via computer programs and my conclusion is evolution is not only rock solid true it is inescapable. The only way i could stop evolution in my programs was to cheat. To stop evolution i had to remove one of nature's factors. if i removed random alterations, no evo. if i removed selection, no evo. if i removed inheritance, no evo. but whenever all 3 coexisted improved fitness occurred as time advanced.
