From rapping, singing to writing poetry, Chanel V Tillman has always had a love for the literary art. A 40-year-old single mother of a 22-year-old son, 20 year old daughter and 2 grand-daughters who resides in Jacksonville, FL is making her mark on the entertainment scene of DUVAL.

Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA, she began writing around the age of 12. In 1985, at the age of 15 she won her first contest, 2nd runner up, in the Martin Luther King, Jr. "I have a dream" essay contest. From that point on, she knew writing and entertaining was her goal.

By the age of 21, she was part of a singing trio, "Trinity", that did some recording where she did most of the writing. The group performed every Sunday evening at a restaurant called "The Bistro" and also performed at the River Ribfest in Norfolk, VA. After about 2 years, the group parted ways and Chanel pursued a solo career. Several songs written, several recorded but not having the proper connections did not allow for the solo career of which she'd hoped.

This did not stop the poetic flow that burned in her heart. She continued to write, having several pieces of her literary work published in different poetry anthologies, most of which were put out by the web site, www.poetry.com. She's also listed in anthologies from the web sites www.thepoemplace.com and www.famouspoets.com. She is also featured on several sites www.soulfulchemistry.com, www.blackpoetry.com, www.ctadams.com, and www.timbooktu.com to name a few.

Chanel is now an 8 year resident in the FL area and has gotten into the local music and poetry/spoken word scene. She frequented "Soul Top Saturdays" the last Saturday of every month, occasionally "Sax in the City" and "Soul Release Saturday" of which she once hosted.

Spent a brief time doing radio on HOT 105.7 FM on the Larry Steele Morning Show as "Da Hostess with the Mostess" and my own Saturday evening show "9-0-4KUS RADIO" where I was given the name "DA VOICE OF DUVAL" and "QUEEN OF I.A.N.". This show was dedicated to all artists of all genres in Duval County, the 9-0-4! During this time I also emceed different events Tama Broadcasting sponsored which included Jazz On the Beach, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, blues concerts, etc. After the station format changed I left radio for about 2 years and came back with IRIE 105.7 FM, an independently ran station.

I still host/emcee events and voice over for commercial spots.
