Da Griot is the finished product from the fusion of three different worlds he has absorbed the musical astuces and urban lifestyles from, molding him into a polyvalent ressourceful hip-hop artist and sharp songwriter.

Amah Ajavon a.k.a Da Griot was born and raised in Togo, an ex french colony in west Africa. In a period when the hip hop culture was being embraced on a global scale, Amah quickly got influenced by this new way of expressing frustrations, joy, state of minds, thoughts and being heard. "I was listening to KRS ONE's South Bronx on my brother's beated up radio and it struck me" says Amah. He quickly formed a group called "Blackness Hope" with his brother and friend, doing gigs after school. His unique ability to narrate stories and depict events precisely earned him the name "Griot" which in West Africa symbolized the wise story tellers who have been around for hundreds of years going from villages to villages, tribes to tribes to deliver worldwide messages to the people, using their instrument made out of cowhide and calabash, full of knowledge and wisdom.

In his teenager years Amah left Togo during political troubles, ended up in New York city, then DC Washington's roughest neighborhoods. In efforts to stay off the streets and out of troubles that were in the horizon he joined the US Navy and saw himself embarking in a new bumpy journey involving trips to Afghanistan after 911 then Iraq a year later. According to Da Griot all these experiences inspired him greatly and somehow stimulated his songwriting approach in an unexplainable way.

Amah then moved to Jacksonville Florida where his self produced EP "Griotry" in 2006 and mixtape called "Courtesy Flush" in 2007 hosted by one of the best DJs in Florida Dj Mouse sold both without any promotion more than 10.000 units still counting. From the overwhelming response he started touring the southeast region, sharing the stage with mainstream artists such as Freeway, Dragon, Trick Daddy, T-pain, Chamillionaire among others, and started his own independent imprint "Greatminds Entertainment".

His drive to explore music to its borders and his new-found songwriting talent brought him to Stockholm Sweden where he didn't hesitate to drop another classic mixtape called "Florida To Sweden" with DJ Rooftop. He started writing hits in all types of music for other artists, pop, rock, hiphop, electro, house, you name the genre he will adapt the style to fit. He co-wrote European pop hits such as "I wanna be a rockstar" from Waldo's People who won the finland 2009 Melody Festival.

Da Griot is currently working with several notable Europeans and US producers on his upcoming projects, starting with an EP called "CARBON-11" along with the Mix Media Arts production and management team.The first single called "ONE MAN ARMY" produced by LEGEND will be released March 11th.
