About Me:
One of the films that i worked on in 1983 - 1985, Charles Burnett's, My Brother's Wedding, was shown at the Armand Hammer Museum near the University of California at Los Angeles on October 27, 2007. I was the Production Manager, Film Editor and I had a small role as an actor in the picture as Dead Body in a Coffin. I think that My Brother's Wedding is close to getting theatrical distribution since it was the first 35 mm. color feature film made by Charles Burnett.
Burnett was a classmate and early mentor of mine at UCLA when we were film students. I joined the Film department because he needed a member of a 12 man jury. It turned out that I was the only member of the jury who showed up at 7:00 am. to help him. Burnett and I became Friends from that day to the present. I helped him select the name of Steven for his first born son rather than Stephen. I also attended his wedding to his wife. I was quite honored.
He was one of my early mentors in film, along with Gordon Parks, Ivan Dixon, and Michael Kahn - Steven Spielberg's film editor.
I have many writing projects that are coming along nicely and as planned. I aim to have a 40 year retrospective of all of my creative work in 2009.

The later episodes of HUM will be exhibited on the Google YouTube network October 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of 2008, a few weeks prior to the U.S. Presidential elections.
To date, i've posted 65 videos, films, and shorts on YouTube in the past 2 years on multiple channels.
HUM is a 2 year film project shot in mini digital.

Gordon Parks was the first Afro-American film director in Hollywood. He directed 6 films:The Learning Tree: Shaft; Shaft's Big Score; Super Cops; Leadbelly, and Solomon Northup's Odyssey. Mr. Parks lived quite a life. He travelled all over the world as a photojournalist for Life magazine, Vogue Magazine, Glamour magazine, and he was one of the founding members of Essence magazine. He was born in 1912 in Fort Scott, Kansas 17 years before the Great Depression in 1929. He worked as a photographer for the Civilian Conservation Corps. I worked for him on a feature film called LEADBELLY from 1974 - 1975 for Paramount Pictures. I was his First Assistant Film Editor and Projectionist on this picture that we shot in Austin, Texas. He also wrote 17 books. Some of the books are: The Sun Stalker; Voices in the Mirror; A Hungry Heart; A Choice of Weapons and The Learning Tree. Three of his 17 books are autobiographical. They are about his life on the Kansas prairie as he was growing up and learning many things about survival. His mother and father were big influences on his life even though his mother died when he was 15 years old.
