John is an acoustic finger-stylist. He plays the 12-string guitar in DADGAD tuning (lowered 3 half steps to B) with an eye toward emulating instruments such as the dulcimer, the harp, and the various pipes of the Celts.
In addition to the 12-string he also plays the nylon string guitar in Standard tuning, and the mandolin.

Hi John! Re: you playing some slide.....I have more than a sneaking suspicion you'd be able to turn your able hand to just about anything....slide or otherwise. Try an open D, I mean what's a semitone between friends?! Just kidding! Your mastery of DADGAD affords you automatic Kudos points in my book.
