About Me:
For me, clicking onto You Tube sees me transported to an alternate reality - a cyber-realm which I'll call You Tube Nation. And there are no borders in You Tube Nation, no generations,- neither time nor distance matter here.
With a single left-click, I'm suddenly out on a vast, boundless cyberplain that's dotted with thousands upon thousands of campfires, flickering away in the night. Some rage as great bonfires while others merely cast off a faint but hopeful glow. And I can wander up to any one of those campfires and take in its light. Sometimes I'll sit for a while, warm myself and maybe even trade thoughts with the firestarter or with others drawn to that same light.
Then with a single twitch of my thumb, I'm back out on the cyberplain, free to wander up to any other campfire flickering in the night.
Hm-m... Sorry. I tend to over-romanticize stuff at times, especially when I get all stoked up. Pretentious metaphors aside, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think You Tube is great. It's one giant planet-wide bush party and everyone is invited.
(By the way, more and more, I find myself drawn to the 'little campfires', especially to the singer-songwriters. The best of folk they are, and in my estimation, they are the finest citizens of You Tube Nation, the light emanating from their fires being the warmest and often the most illuminating.)
Maybe one day, I'll spark a fire of my own. But for now, I'm happy just wanderering,- wandering and wondering... 'Hmm? Wonder what's going on at that little campfire over there?'
Gotta go now! There's still so much to discover!
Country:
Canada
Occupation:
Screenwriter.
Interests:
I'm a political junkie who enjoys fishing (catch and release only), hiking, watching TV/movies, talking to my parrot (who cracks me up daily), star/moongazing with my telescope, pondering the Universe and my place in it.
Movies:
TV - Breaking Bad, West Wing, Larry Sanders Show, Daily Show, Flashpoint, The Weather Network, (honest, I like it), Nova, American Experience and Frontline documentaries MOVIES - On The Waterfront, Forrest Gump, The Straight Story, Driving Miss Daisy, The Third Man, Groundhog Day, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Milagro Beanfield War, Jaws, Erin Brokovich, Slum Dog Millionaire, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Glory, Almost Famous, All That Jazz, Up
Music:
Beethoven to Nirvana, Eminem to Willie Nelson, Smashing Pumpkins to Paul Simon, Dead Can Dance, The Chieftains, The Tragically Hip, The Who, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen - I'm sorta all over the place and a sucker for ballads.
Books:
Since I work in fiction, I'm a non-fiction guy when it comes reading. Uh, Sophie's World blew my mind. Books by Carlos Castaneda held my attention. Sun Tzu's Art of War ...(actually, I'm only saying that because it sounds cool.)
