Alex Winstone sent an email to Tesco asking for 2 million pounds or else his UK colleagues would buy beef steaks and inject them with HIV infected blood before returning them to supermarket shelves. He was surprised when he got an email reply saying that Tesco took the matter very seriously and gave him a number to call. Alex called and spoke to Paul Chapman who then set up a team of British officers to fly to Bangkok and find Alex.
The Thai police found Alex before Scotland Yard, the Thai police were watching the Internet cafes whilst Scotland Yard was checking that Alex was not in any of the go go bars.
After sending his emails from Bangkok's red light district he was arrested by Interpol.

Ironically, another Brit was victim of poisoning from a Twix bar bought from Tesco - Thai police revealed that the Thai army ran a security company that frightened a worker into poisoning chocolates out of anger that their contract was to be revoked.
Even more ironic is that the police did not find Alex - he found them! As he was walking towards the a go go bars in Nana Plaza with his girlfriend he say a crowd of police outside his favorite Internet cafe where he wrote his emails demanding 2 million pounds from Tesco, he asked one of the officers what was going on and the policeman answered "We are looking for you!"
Scotland yard officers from the UK were busy looking for Alex in the Nana go go bars and did not find out till later that he had already been caught.
Why was Al Winstone not deported after his first poison threat? A year later he reportedly tried to blackmail Tesco Lotus in Pattaya where Noppadon Wongnom arrested him with Panya Mamen.
