I have to agree that Meade had much better trills than Netrebko. They both bring a different vocal color to the role, so its hard to compare them. I say brava to both, but my favorite is Meade. What a voice! :-)

I love the fullness she has in her lower register. You don't find that quality in a coloratura very often. :-)

I remember Carol Vaness. She had an active career for over twenty five years, and still sings today. The only reason she stopped performing as much is because of a knee injury. She is now on faculty at Indiana University.

I contacted Ms. Grubers former agent and was informed that due to serious back problems she had withdrawn from performing. It makes me very sad, as hers was a very rare voice indeed.

My question is why in the world they chose Marton over Millo? I love Marton in roles like Elsa and Turandot, but not for this. It moves too much for her. What a shame.

I reluctantly agree that her voice doesn't sound appropriate for this anymore. I heard her Minnie a few months back, and had a hard time hearing her during several passages. The high notes don't quite get there, with the voice sounding like its almost out of steam. :-( Makes me sad.
