I think the point of the Fae ballads is that they are INEVITABLE, meaning that the Maid WILL always fall for Wencen's ploy, no matter what she wants. You'll soon see that she needed help to alter the ballads!

Believe it or not, I have tried and succeeded at soloing Magicka using NOTHING but ASS and ARSE for the entire game. Outside the tutorial, I didn't cast a single other spell, simply to see if its possible to go through the game, as it were, ASS-first. (pun SOOOOO intended)

Ah, they finally discover ARSE mines! I was waiting for this!
