"Investors, or the recent run up in property values have nothing to do with it. Who cares if property values went up 100-300%?"
See that's selfish on your part, housing at the inflated prices is un-affordable to the working class. It's why mortgage defaults are at an all time high. It's why Bush (actually US taxpayers) is bailing out the mortgage lending industry too. "That should not give the government the go ahead and fleece our pockets? Why should we pay double or triple to the government in 2007 when we are receiving the SAME LEVEL OF SERVICE we did in 2001??" That applies to anything in a capitalistic model of economics. Analogy: Why is gasoline $ 3+/gallon, it wasn't in 2001 ? Why should anyone pay a dime more than they did in the 1970's. There was a fuel shortage 30+ years ago, but we haven't run out ? What about food, in 2000/2001, $ 1.98/lb covered alb of ground beef, try $ 4+/lb today @ Publix. The meat is no leaner or better than it was and a lb still is a lb. |

The issue with this proposal is that there is no wording on limiting the assed value of your property. Think of what would happen if the government now decides that all property would be taxed as market value vs a fair assed value (like 50% of market value).
If you do the numbers, this bill does not save you money without an assessment limit. Mike V. |

Until there are criminal prosecutions of corruption and wasteful spending, the problem will only get worse. Millage rates and market assessments can always be manipulated to increase tax revenue. So the only way to bring change is through accountability. Federal corruption is trickling down to the local level. We must restore power to the people and get these corporate crooks out of the politicians' pockets. The Bush crime family must be brought to justice or the US will become a third world banana republic.

Great video, just need to work inflation into the local government spending numbers to make it more accurate such that it passes scrutiny from those who may oppose the plan.

Incredible, it's always the Government. the tax increases were the last to respond in terms of inflation. Want to fix this, fix capitalism. What keeps people out of affordable housing isn't the Government and it's taxes, it's a property flipper or any home owner for that matter that has caused or enjoyed the inflation in the price of homes. You can't have it both ways. Your home values doubled, tripled and quadrupled. How do you propose to fix that issue and make housing more affordable for those whose incomes haven't paced home price inflation ? Oh that's right, you getting $ 300-400K for a piece of property that was selling for $ 100K in 2000/2001 isn't a problem ? That's just good investing ?

It doesn't have anything to do with the amendment on the ballot now. It's a totally different proposal. Vote NO on the amendment that's on there now. It voids the 'Save our Homes' codicile when the Property Appraiser reappraises your current home at a 'lowere' value and your taxes will skyrocket!

So do we vote YES or NO.....on te ballot
