@NewEnglandBudo Not really a Prince fan. I still think that style is bit too fx'd, and yes, flamboyant. I just really do not like over fx'd guitar sound in the classic rock/blues music genre. I think too much effects give the player too much leeway because it covers up so many mistakes.

I think the John Mayer Trio is my favorite part of his career. Everything is just so tight with only three musicians......three excellent musicians. No matter how much you may hate Mayer, the fact remains that he is an excellent guitarist.

She's got that 1980's spandex guitar sound and a bubble gum pop voice. It is a unique combination. I like Mayer's version better, and SRV's version even more. She is a great guitar player, but all those effects really do cover up a lot of mistakes and give you a lot of cush room.
