Some of you do not understand why we let our kids do this stuff but I will try to explain. Some of us grew up with guns and hunting and we enjoy this stuff with our kids and are eager to pass it onto our kids. As people handling guns as youngster we respect and enjoy guns and shooting all our lives. Some of us parents are not interested in raising our kids to be lawyers and politicians, some of us have aspirations of our kids having honorable professions like Navy seals, Rangers, Marines or police officers. Rather then letting our kids sit on the couch and play video games about this stuff we take them out to experience things for real and make their life decissions with informed and hands-on realististic library of experences to draw on.

Hello Jim,
How's the trapping season treating you?
Guitararcher (15 hours ago)
Alright, you have provided me with a crap load of knowledge, I think I will do okay this season. Dont plan to make a killin of anything, If I get even one fox I will be happy! We have alot of grays around here, So I think my odds are good. You have quite the trap line going, I suppose you sell them? I dont have any muskrat meat, but I do have a possum, and I think that should do. I will have to go and get some dirt, I dont think I will need it for a while, the only time the dirt around here gets wet is if there is snow. Other than that it stays really dry. I have been reading up on the different sets, I think the bucket is good, so I might try that for a bit. But I think I will definatly stick with the dirt hole for my footholds! Thanks a million for all your help, going to experiment with the wax paper, got to wait untill my traps are done dyeing in the walnut water!! Thanks again!!

Make sure you get lost of pelts for timgg66 and shadowwolf337. They are making ''donkeys'' of themselves if you know what I mean.

I bought 6 1 1/2 coil spring dukes, and 3 #160 body gripping dukes, because I mainly plan to trap foxes and coons. right now I only have a 1 1/2 and 1 coil spring, and a #110 body gripping. I have a couple small plots of land to trap, so I should do okay, what type of bait do you use for coyotes or foxes? And can you explain the wax paper bit? I have been putting saw dust around the pan and then covering with light dirt, I saw a video on here about yote trapping, and he used buckwheat hulls of something like that. So I improvised, lol. I used the dirt hole set for everything I have caught, and I really dont know what type of set to use for conibears, besides putting one at the base of a hole for groundhogs. I will have to research that, but about how many traps do you run? And what sizes?
Guitararcher (1 day ago)
One more set of questions. What do you use under the pan? And do you dye and/or wax your traps?
Guitararcher (2 days ago)
Thanks a million, that is helpful. I have never tried scents, like I said I am just starting. Actually buying more traps now, so thanks again!

That is great CtGolfer Micheal learning so he caught his first muskrat that awesome. I still remember my first one. It exciting I hope you guys having fun. :-)
Guitararcher (2 days ago)
Actually I do have some questions! And the biggest one is do you use bait or scent? And second would you recomend conibears or footholds? I have tried both but have never caught anything in a conibear!? Any advice would be welcome, thanks
Chris
