CLIFF RICHARD - Miss You Nights

Cliff Richard - "Miss You Nights"

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

Whatever ones views are of Cliff, he deserves our respect. He managed to stay relevant for 40 years..and more. He outlasted Rick Nelson, Pat Boone, Elvis and many others. That is quite a stunning achievement. Still has a marvelous voice.....

Radka Toneff Moon's a Harsh Mistress

Killer-cover by the late great norwegian jazz singer Radka Toneff. Never saw you, never knew you, but every time I listen to this I sorely miss you...

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

Voted among the finest female voices in the last 50 years. You have to listen to it on an album thro' a decent system to really appreciate her silky voice. The cover of the album is depicted here and became a collector's item (was almost $100 for the album) until they started to reissue the recor...

LAGU TERAKHIR ALLAHYARHAM .RAMLEE - AIR MATA DI KUALA LUMPUR

Since 33 years P. Ramlee passed away, the aura and charisma of the legendary entertainer is still as strong as ever.

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

I was too young to appreciate P. Ramlee when I was around in M'sia. Now, at 58 I realize he was a genius. Even sadder is that he was a genuinely nice person. His countrymen could not recognize the treasure they had and tried to push him out of the picture...quite literally! He died a sad and brok...

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

Oh my! How I remember all the spots here! I was 16 in 1970 and this scene had hardly changed. I recognize ALL of the landmarks! I used to walk these streets hundreds of times....to the Sri Jaya bus stands along the river..just after the Central Market! What memories..................sigh!

    Stand By Me memories

    Great movie.

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

I can't help coming back to watch this clip every now n then. Yes, we'll never have friends like the ones we had when we were 12 or so. I sometimes wonder (age 55 now) at how my childhood friends fared. Trouble is, when you are young, you don't think much of the friendship and closeness of good f...

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

Still a pristine voice as ever. Better version of the song than Sting! Pity she was destined not to stay with us long.

Another great vocalist (also died young) is Radka Toneff...The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

    Stand By Me (trailer)

Trailer do filme Stand by Me de Rob Reiner

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

I think the reason why a movies like this affects our psyche so much is that it reminds of a lost dimension - one where having a good time did not mean having loads of $ to spend on flashy things, how you looked did not matter much, feelings were genuine and people worked hard and talked about re...

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

I love this song. Sometimes, I feel that the original singers don't always give the best rendition. Ex. Fields of Gold (Sting)....I prefer Eva Cassidy's version. Likewise, for The Rose, I prefer Emi Fujita's version.

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

In order to understand Virginia and appreciate her you need to understand the circumstances and prevailing attitudes towards intellectual women at that time. Mike & The Mechanics - The living Years

    cruiser1834 cruiser1834 commented:

Sad song; dad n I never really saw eye-to-eye on most things. Had a "strict" upbringing and I resented much of that. Now, as a parent myself, I reflect on how much he put up with (5 mouths to feed on a small wage working so far away and infrequent visits) and what he did for us. I loved my father...

Probably one of the best of all-time songs ever written and still manages to evoke many emotions to this day.
