I am a Christian mechanical engineer. I mistrust my government, particularly after the events of 9/11 (I don't buy the official story for scientific reasons), and I firmly believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as originally outlined and intended by our founding fathers. I am a strong advocate of the 2nd Amendment, and believe that the federal government's role in our lives should be defense and promotion of the common welfare as stated in our Constitution. If you read "free handouts to those who could help themselves but don't" into welfare, then you read it differently than the founders intended. An armed man is a citizen, an unarmed man is a subject. As Americans, we are guaranteed the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not free food, clothing, shelter, and health care.
