About Me:

Critical is one of the hottest young rappers to approach the music scene from Bed Stuy Brooklyn by way of Brownsville. He was born K'Juan Shane Williams and is mixed of African American and Jamaican descent. Since a toddler, Critical was never a stranger to music. He comes from an eclectic background of musicians on both his parents' side. At just five months old, Critical was rocking in his crib to the beat of Biggie Smalls, LL Cool J, Beanie Man and Shaba -- just to name a few. Critical has been rapping since the age of 10 inspired by Jay Z, a rapper who came from the hood and achieved many successes. It was in 2004 that rap took a turn for him; it became a form of expression in which he would help himself heal after surviving a near fatal car accident. That is how the name Critical came into being. Spending nearly two weeks in critical condition in the internal care unit at Nassau County Medical Center, Critical, fought for his life. He survived four blood transfusions and five surgeries to repair damage to his abdomen, liver, lungs and legs. His endurance throughout this trauma can be compared to his undying desire to make something out of this rap game. After the surgeries and several months of rehabilitation, learning to walk again, Critical was stable and so was his rap game. After the accident Critical came back hard! His lyrics were incredible and he was ready to hit the studio. Through it all Critical was back in effect and back on the scene. It was in 2005 when he hit the studio and recorded his first single, "Champion", and a champion he truly was! Critical has a passion that only focused artists understand. His drive and his determination to succeed in the rap game is inspiring. His mentality gives him an edge because he is able to focus on a different level, unlike most artists in his age group. Critical now attends Urban Assembly of Music and Art High School in New York and has gone on to record many other songs. He is well known in all his communities and often referred to as the next Biggie Smalls. He is currently working on his self titled mixed cd and is performing at local shows in New York City, Detroit and Atlanta. Critical is now on top of his game and closer to his dream than ever before.
