Razek Verilex is a turian mercenary. His best friend is Xern Polito. They met in a turian prison and were cellmates. Razek and Xern escaped the prison with a few other turians. Razek left Xern after the breakout. Xern never saw him again until a few years later. They met up again on Omega when Razek was on a job to get information on a C-Sec officer.

Razek is a normal size for a turian his age. His skin is grey and he has purple/pink and yellow distinctive markings. His eyes are a really deep blue. He has a long fringe unlike Xern. He has many scars around his eyes that are only visible when his marking are removed. When in prison, they remove all markings. He used to work for C-Sec until he got fed up with all their crap. Razek will take any job from anyone depending on what it is. He will work for someone, but never join them.

Razek is leader of a mercenary group called Shadow Seekers. He works with Xern in the Shadow Seekers. Razek will only accept pure mercenaries who will remain trustworthy and are good at what they do.

Razek mostly hangs around with Xern on Omega. They have a house above the club so they can hear the bass loud and clear. Razek knows about everyone on Omega. He is widly feared and both respected. Razek works mostly on or around Omega but will take jobs at other places. He tends to linger around dark places. He is very good at assassinations and hand to hand combat. It is almost rare when he uses guns. He mostly uses daggers and biotics.

Razek has a nice personality towards people he knows. He is very aggressive towards enemies. He will protect his friends no matter what. He despises people who don't understand the meaning no.

When Razek has his markings removed, he has black scars all around his eyes. He looks more threatening without his markings due to the scars. He has markings all over his body. When he has his armor off, he looks more friendly.

Xern has a whitish grey skin color. He has black and green markings on his face. Xern has a short frill and wears a hoodie mostly all the time. He has a few scars around his eyes like Razek. Xern and Razek sometimes get confused as brothers due to their similar scars.

Turians typically stand over six feet tall, have two long, proportionately thick fingers and an opposable thumb on each hand, each tipped with talons, and a set of mandibles around their mouths. The most distinguishing feature of turians is their metallic carapace, which is a result of their evolution. Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors, however unlike most Earth avian creatures, turians are viviparous and give birth to live young. In 2165, David Anderson claimed that turians reminded him of the evolutionary link between birds and dinosaurs. Turians are also recognisable by their voices, which have a distinctive flanging effect. Males and females do not differ greatly in physical appearance, but female turians lack the crest of horns found in the males of the race. In addition, the lifespan of a turian is comparable to that of a human.

Since the Unification War, turians normally wear elaborate face paint marking their colony of origin, though it is not known which markings distinguish which colony. These markings are usually white — particularly on turians with darker carapaces — but can be of various colours. Garrus Vakarian's markings, for example, are dark blue. As a point of interest, the turian term "barefaced" refers to one who is beguiling or not to be trusted. It is also a slang term for politicians.

Turians exhibit the characteristics of predators rather than those of prey species (compare to krogan biology). Their forward-facing alert eyes give the impression that they possess outstanding eyesight and their teeth and jaws mimic the structures possessed by apex predators such as crocodiles or ancient, carnivorous dinosaurs. Needless to say, their talons on both their feet and hands seem capable of ripping flesh. Their slender bodies also seem to suggest that they are also capable of moving at high speeds.

The turian homeworld, Palaven, has a metal-poor core, generating a weak magnetic field and allowing more solar radiation into the atmosphere. To deal with this, most forms of life on Palaven evolved some form of metallic "exoskeleton" to protect themselves. Their reflective plate-like skin makes turians less susceptible to long-term, low-level radiation exposure, but they do not possess any sort of "natural armor". A turian's thick skin does not stop projectiles and directed energy bolts. Turian blood has a dark blue colouration, possibly from the presence of hemocyanin rather than hemoglobin, which would fit with the biology of a metallic exoskeleton.

Although life on Palaven is carbon-based and oxygen-breathing, it is built on dextro-amino acids. This places the turians in a distinct minority on the galactic stage; the quarians are the only other sapient dextro-protein race. The food of humans, asari, or salarians (who evolved in levo-amino acid-based biospheres), will at best pass through turian systems without providing any nutrition. At worst, it will trigger an allergic reaction that can be fatal if not immediately treated. The turian mechanic Lilihierax on Noveria uses the idiom, "if you can polish enough gizzard". This suggests that the turians have a digestive system similar to birds and reptiles on Earth, some of whom swallow stones to help break down harder foods in the stomach.
