As much as I am a Chevy guy, I cannot deny the superiority of the Polara and Fury police cars from 1966-1972. In Washington State they used 1968 Chevy Biscayne 427's for a year which were deceptively fast though were not durable engine wise like the 440 Plymouths and Dodges.

The original 442 in 1964 had a 330 4 barrel,4 speed and 2 exhaust hence called 442 for 4 on the floor,4 barrel and 2 exhaust. In 1965 when the 400 was standard option then the 442 stood for 400,4 barrel,2 exhaust, regardless of auto or stick,regards.

the L35 325 HP 396 was NOT AVAILABLE in 1969, just the L66 265 HP 2 barrell.

If you have the engine casting # on deck, display them. Also there is the vin on block telling what model the 396 came in.
