My CH cat used to do that too when she got excited. Charlee lived to be 17 years old. She was a very loving and happy cat. CH cats are also very adaptable. They will find a way to do almost anything. If you call a Persian Munchkin a Napoleon, a La Perm Muchkin a Skookum, a Sphynx Munchin a Minskin, and a Selkirk Rex Munchin a Lambkin, what do you call a Scottish Fold Muchkin? They really need their own name, too. A Brownie? A Pict? A Cait Sith (fairy cat)? A Caledonian?

This IS strange behaviour. I have read that cats don't meow to each others, just to humans. (Of course they growl and caterwaul at each other.) Yet these two are obviously mewing at each other and not to the human. Cats are always full of surprises.

Some might think you were cruel to take the kittens away from the mother, but if you can capture kittens just after weaning at 6-8 weeks they are much easier to tame. Waiting would have been a big mistake and. It sounds like you handled this as humanely as possible for everyone involved.
