Chris Owenby is currently pursuing his masters degree in composition at Georgia State University. His work has been performed by members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the Goliard ensemble, the LaGrange College Singers, and the Sons of Lafayette. He has worked closely with composer Lee Johnson on projects such as his Seventh Symphony, 'Infinitude', and his 'Four Concerts' for mezzo-soprano and piano trio.
Chris has served as the Minister of Music at White United Methodist Church in White, Georgia and New Covenant Christian Worship Center in Acworth, Georgia. He currently serves as Minister of Music at Wesley Chapel United Methodist in Marietta, and he teaches piano lessons at the Harmony House in Kennesaw. He also currently holds a position as pianist with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.
He has interned with the distinguished Atlanta Symphony Chorus under the wise counsel of Dr. Jeffrey Baxter, and is a member of several distinguished music societies, such as ASCAP, the American Composer's Forum, the College Music Society, ACDA, and the Nashville Songwriter's Association among others.
An original song of his, entitled 'The Love Song', was a number one hit on the Immanuel Broadcasting Network for several months and is being played on several other stations along with several other original songs.
Upon completion of his masters degree at Georgia State, Chris will further pursue his music education.
