My father-the late Tam Abercrombie,formerly of Bowhill Pit, was down the Pit on nightshift that night.He & his neebor reported smoke/fumes long before the Pit was evacuated.His evidence was not heard at the "Disaster Enquiry".He felt bitter about this till the day he died.
